About the event
What it is
An evening for adults who carry a lot. People come in tired and stretched by the season, and leave with three resets they can use in under a minute and a simple plan for the holidays. Everything is learned by doing. Nobody has to share anything personal.
Who it's for
Parents, caregivers and anyone in a helping job: nurses, paramedics, teachers, first responders. It also suits anyone who feels the holidays pile up faster than they can handle them.
What people take home
• A pocket card with the three resets
• Their own Holiday Calm Plan
• A Village Passport stamp toward a free night
Giving back
Admission is by donation, with $10 suggested. Every dollar goes to the Cochrane Activettes' Share Your Christmas program, which helps local families with food and gifts over the holidays.
Who leads it
Jamila Godfrey, founder of Village of Play is a local parent, community mental health advocate and corporate trainer specializing in adult learning & development. She holds a Brain Story Certification, First Aid & CPR and a psychological health and safety certification.
Good to know
Calm in a Crisis teaches everyday stress skills. It is not counselling or first aid training. Everyone gets a short list of local supports to keep.
